Zhandos Amanbayev, Director of KNAPEC, took part in the Third World Ministerial Conference on Road Safety on the theme "Achieving Global Goals by 2030", which was held on February 19-20, 2020 in the Swedish capital Stockholm.
It is difficult to overestimate the importance of the problem, because 1.35 million people die in accidents every year in the world. These figures mean the human tragedies of millions of families, the number of injured is estimated at 50 million, they need the help and care of relatives and doctors. Currently, the world is aware of the scale of the situation, and almost all states of the world intend to deal with the problem. The conference was opened by the King of Sweden, His Majesty Carl XVI Gustaf. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Head of the World Health Organization, delivered a welcoming speech online. Speakers included Thomas Eneroth, Minister of Infrastructure of Sweden, Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Minister of Transport of Denmark, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, Mahtar Diop, Vice President of the World Bank, Adina-Joana Valean, Commissioner for Transport of the European Union, the head of the Volvo Group, and many other delegates leading the road industry and business in their countries.
On behalf of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Sweden, Kairat Abdrakhmanov, Vice Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kamalzhan Nadyrov, Director of the Development Department of the RSE "National Center for Quality of Road Assets" of the Committee of Highways of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan (MIID RK) D.Aspanbetov, Director of the Kazakh Scientific Research Institute of Road Safety A.Masanov, representatives of NGOs.
The location of the conference is not accidental. Sweden is one of the world leaders in road safety, the birthplace of the Vision Zero concept and other advanced technologies in the road sector in general and in road safety in particular.
The latest trends in the development of road safety, successful cases, and new challenges were presented and discussed at the event. Climate change was also not spared, and areas such as road safety and the development of public transport could have a positive impact on the global warming situation were discussed. Other topics of the event included improving the response to an accident, improving driver behavior, strengthening international cooperation, financing safe roads, gender equality in creating safe cars, achieving three stars on the IRAP star rating scale, and many other topics.
